Laser Thread Vein Removal

Whilst some people may enjoy getting their legs out for the summer, other people tend to feel slightly self-conscious. One of the reasons for this lack of confidence could be thread veins. At our clinic we are able to give you your confidence back by banishing those veins, leaving your skin clear and blemish free.

‘Spider veins’ or thread veins are an extremely common problem. They are tiny red, blue or purple veins that appear just beneath the skin that can get bigger with time. Thread veins commonly found on the legs or facial area. They appear for a number of reasons, such as

  • After a minor injury,
  • Weak valves/insufficiency
  • Hormone changes (puberty, pregnancy, menopause)
  • Sun exposure
  • Standing for long period of time
  • Obesity
  • Unhealthy life style

Luckily these veins can be easily removed using our laser vein removal treatment. The introduction of this treatment has been a revolution in vein removal treatments, as prior to this; the only way to remove these veins was through surgery, which required anaesthetic and hospitalisation. Using laser we are now about to completely remove the vein, quickly, easily and without leaving a scar.

We use our Candela GentleMax Pro laser, which is one of the most reputable and trusted names on the market to do this.

Laser system delivers a pulse of light energy to the vein, which absorb by blood (oxy or deoxy haemoglobin).

The blood vessel is heated up (coagulated) above 70C and causes a vascular (vein) spasm destroying thread veins.

Immediately after the treatment the appearance of the vein become darker and the area will swell. But don’t worry! This is part of the process. Over the following few weeks the vein will fade and shrink. Blood will be redirected to veins deeper below the skin and you will no longer be able to see the thread vein.

Each laser pulse is less than 1/1000 of a second and will not damage the surrounding tissue. It is an effective, fast, and extremely common treatment that allows you to avoid thread veins without having to undergo surgery or painful and unreliable procedures.

What types of thread veins can be treated with laser?

  • Facial broken veins (capillaries)
  • Leg veins blue or purple colour up to 3mm in diameter
  • Spider Nevi on face and legs
  • Diffuse redness on face

Is laser vein removal treatment safe?

Yes, the treatment is completely safe. Our Clinic uses a Candela GentleMax Pro Laser, one of the best lasers from the most reputable name in the industry approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The laser will target the vein specifically without affecting the surrounding tissue.

Does Laser Vein Removal hurt?

You may feel some heat on the treated area. To make laser veins removal treatment more comfortable for clients we use Cryogen cooling gas devise which cooling down the area before, during and after laser pulses. Our laser therapist will apply iced compress after few shots and after finishing the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

1 – 3 treatments are needed to achieve the desired results. It is recommended 4-6 weeks interval between thread vein removal treatment on face and 8-12 weeks on legs.

Are there any side effects?

At first the vein will get red or even darker and swell, before it fades over the course of a few weeks.
Larger veins very often can be bruised.
It is important after the procedure to look after the treated area for a few weeks by regularly applying aloe vera and wearing SPF30+ whenever it might be exposed to the sun. Even on cloudy days!

Is laser vein removal right for me?

There are important safety implications that must be considered when deciding whether the treatment is right for you. For example, we can treat thread veins but not varicose veins and large complex leg vein system. We cannot treat a vein that is bigger than 1.5mm on the face or any vascular lesion within the orbit of the eye.
Prior to treatment we would invite you for a free consultation during which time one of our experienced professionals can examine your veins and suggest the best course of action.

Do I have varicose veins or spider veins? Can I be treated by laser?

In our clinic we are only able to treat spider veins. We cannot treat varicose veins. Varicose veins are often much larger than spider veins, and they are thick and protrude from the skin. Spider veins on the other hand are much smaller and can be seen just below the surface of the skin. If you are unsure which you have, you are welcome to come in for a free consultation, during which one of our experienced professionals will examine the vein and let you know whether we are able to treat it, or whether you will need to seek further medical attention.
